Stockley: Much needed confidence

AFC Bournemouth striker Jayden Stockley has enjoyed a good week with the development squad.

The week began with a goal against a Forest Green Rovers side in the Cherries development squad's 2-1 defeat on Monday.

Whilst on Thursday afternoon Stockley scored a brace in the squads 5-1 win over Swindon.

The first came from a free kick in the opening five minutes of the game. Stockley stepped up to the ball and curled it into the top corner from 20 yards with the 'keeper beaten from the moment he struck the ball.

The second, came from a good ball played over the top, which was well controlled and the striker then out muscled the defender before slamming it into the top corner.

Asked by AFCB Vital about how happy he has been with the past week he said...

'Yeah, I need that much needed confidence, to know that all the work I've put in to get technically better is paying off on the pitch, I have had to transform my game slightly to adapt to the football Paul and Shaun like to play and it is moving me on as a player.

'So to get the goals was good and hopefully I can keep proving to the management that I belong in the first team and am willing to give my all for the club to achieve that.'

So wait he can take a free kick> Should come in handy in the future providing Hughes isn't on the pitch & Pugh & Daniels are.

Because Jayden ha been around so long, some supporters seem to forget that he is still only 18, still growing and yet to reach his physical peak. Because of the crisis at the Club , he was rushed into First Team action far too early. But every Manager he has had has recognised his potential. Be patient, putting him into the Development Squad to learn his trade is the right thing to do. Jayden could well be the main striker for us, for years to come.
