'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Full steam ahead for the Ladies

After a successful recruitment drive over the summer, AFC Bournemouth Ladies are looking forward to the coming season. After what is best described as a mixed first season back in the women`s game, the ladies team is now looking far better equipped for their second season in the woman`s game.

AFCB Vital have been able to infiltrate the team with a secret agent (he's working on a code name and has so far come up with 'The Ladies Man') - who will be able to keep us up to date with all that is happening in the 'Beautiful Game' on a regular basis this season.

The so called off season has been a busy one at the team, not just the management staff of Daz Clarke & Vince Taylor, but the core of the squad too. Along with the recruitment drive, the team has also been involved in a number of charity works off the pitch. Several of the team ran the Race for Life this year. The squad will be assisting with the marshalling at the Charles Bennett Olympic Mile this weekend (22nd July) & to top it all - Shane Taylor , brother of the twins Nicola & Paula Taylor along with Luke Tiani (part time ladies assistant referee) reached the summit of Kilimanjaro in aid of Help for Heroes, taking an AFCB flag signed by the whole ladies team. A very proud moment, not just for the twins, but the whole team

On the field the hard work hasn`t stopped. An additional midweek fitness training regime was added this season that begins with a timed one mile run and gets harder from there. Players are tasked with beating their own time from the previous week. This is then followed by over an hour of various speed and agility drills designed to have the ladies in peak fitness for the start of their league campaign on 9th September.

AFCB Ladies will be playing in the Hampshire Women`s Division 3 this year and the club hopes to be playing their home fixtures on the new state of the art pitches at the back of the main stadium. It is also hoped that the team will once again get the opportunity to grace the hallowed turf of Dean Court.

Over the coming weeks we hope to catch up with Daz & Vince along with some of the players for their own assessment of pre-season & the year ahead!!
