Vital Youth Team Player Sponsorship - Strugnell

Many thanks for your pledges towards the Fans of up the Cherries - afcb.vitalfootball.co.uk sponsorship of a Cherries youth team player.

Many thanks for your pledges towards the Fans of up the Cherries - afcb.vitalfootball.co.uk sponsorship of a Cherries youth team player.

The player selected is Dan Strugnell. Dan is 17 years old (18 in November) and about to begin the 2nd year of the AFCB youth programme.

His preferred position is central defender although he has also played full back & feels comfortable there.

Dan is an ex Twynham School student, he`s been with the Cherries Centre of Excellence since he was 12 years old.

Dan comes from an AFCB supporting family; his Dad and brother are season ticket holders. He does admit to also admiring Arsenal! Fabregas is his favourite player (providing he doesn`t go to Barcelona!)

Dan has started this season very well, he`s currently training with the 1st team and you may of seen him playing pre-season friendlies against Poole and Hamworthy. If featuring for the 1st team wasn`t enough, he also scored our 2nd goal against Hamworthy with a neat header. He admits he didn`t know what to do when he scored; he`d only scored one for the youth team previously (in the 1-2 victory away to Yeovil last season). So he needs to work on his celebrations!

Last Saturday he played the 1st half for the youth team in the pre-season friendly v Coventry City then zoomed over to Dean Court to make a 2nd half appearance for the 1st team against Fulham.

Dan says...

'Can you just say a massive thank you to all the fans that have put money into this sponsorship, it really will help me out hugely!`
