Kevin Bond

Defender and then Manager

England B

Pen Pic

AFC Bournemouth manager Kevin Bond previously played for the Cherries under father John Bond.

Bond followed his Dad to Norwich City before earning two England B caps.

He then moved on and had a brief spell in the MLS's previous incarnation of the NASL with the Seattle Sounders.

In the 1981/82 season he returned to England and finished his career after playing for Manchester City, Southampton, Bournemouth (again), Exeter City, Sittingbourne and Dover Athletic.

His coaching and managerial career all started thanks to former World Cup winner Alan Ball, who offered Bond the reserves team coach role at Manchester City.

He went on to have spells at other clubs, before again joining forces with Alan Ball with Pompey.

But when Ball was sacked, Bond's relationship with Harry Redknapp began, firstly as a scout at West Ham, before following Redknapp back to Portsmouth, then to Southampton and then back to Portsmouth again.

2006 proved to be a dramatic year for Bond, he opted to leave Portsmouth to become Assistant manager of Newcastle United.

Bond was then featured on the BBC panorama documentary, that investigated alleged corruption in football, Bond was shown talking to a fake football agent and although he wasn't shown, agreeing to any deals or anything of an illegal nature, Bond was placed on gardening duty and was promptly released from his contract.

In October 2006, Bond was announced as Cherries manager after Sean O'Driscoll had departed to Doncaster Rovers.

But 22 months later he was sacked as manager of AFC Bournemouth.
