Arsenal and England midfielder Jack Wilshere joined AFC Bournemouth on a season long loan deal on 31st August 2016.

The signing of Wilshere on transfer deadline day was arguably one of the biggest coup's in the Cherries history.

Wilshere arrived on the south coast having made 159 appearances for Arsenal and as well as gaining lots of UEFA Champions League experience, he has lifted the FA Cup on two occasions and represented England on 34 occasions.

He has played for England at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil and the recent 2016 UEFA European Championships in France.

When it became apparent that Wilshere was available for a season long loan deal, 20 clubs reportedly made an approach, it came down to AFC Bournemouth, Crystal Palace, Roma and AC Milan.

Wilshere met with both Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew and AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe and he subsequently elected to make the move to the south coast for the 2016/17 season.

Unfortunately for both Wilshere and AFC Bournemouth his loan would come to a premature end as Wilshere suffered a hairline fracture of his left fibula against Tottenham Hotspur.

Wilshere ended his appearances for AFC Bournemouth with 22 Premier League starts and 5 substitute appearances, the 1916 Premier League minutes was more than his combined total from the 2014/2015 and 2015/2016 campaigns for Arsenal.
