Donal McDermott enjoyed a two month loan spell with the Cherries at the end of the 2010/11 season.

In total he made eleven appearances for the Cherries last season, including two appearances in the Play-Off Semi Finals against Huddersfield Town, scoring the Cherries equalising goal at Dean Court and starring in the epic encounter at the Galpharm which ended with a penalty shoot out defeat for the Cherries.

During the summer of 2011 Bradbury had hoped to sign him permanently from Manchester City, but the versatile midfielder who was out of contract, decided to move to League One rivals Huddersfield Town, signing a two year contract.

He went on to feature 14 times for Huddersfield, but couldn't force his way into the side on a regular basis and in January 2012 he made a 175,000 move back to Dean Court signing a three and a half year contract.

In March 2012 he was arrested for drink driving and was fined by the club.

He then missed the first team coach to an away game which again resulted in a disciplinary by AFC Bournemouth.

In April 2012 he was found guilty of drink driving, was banned from driving and fined by the court after McDermott admitted to previously having problems with alcohol.

Overall he made 24 appearances for the Cherries, but only eight of those appearances came under Eddie Howe, with two of those coming during the 2013/14 seasons League Cup run.

Despite having 15 months to run on his existing contract his deal was terminated without being paid up in April 2014.
