Wes Thomas initially joined AFC Bournemouth on a 93 day loan deal in September 2011, but returned to Dean Court in January 2012 to make the move permanent for a reported six figure sum.

The then 24 year old striker scored 19 goals during the 2010/11 season for League Two side Cheltenham, but left the club on a free transfer at the end of that season to join Crawley Town.

However he spent just two months at Crawley making six appearances (two starts) in League Two scoring once before he moved to the south coast.

Initially he impressed under former manager Lee Bradbury, scoring ten goals in his first eighteen appearances for the club. He then however went ten games without scoring a goal with his final goal for the Cherries coming in Paul Groves first game in charge of the Cherries in March 2012.

During the 2012/13 season he did rediscover his goalscoring boots during three loan spells away from Dean Court, he scored three goals in six appearances for Portsmouth in League One, before scoring another three goals for Blackpool in nine Championship appearances and ending the season with Birmingham in the Championship with a further three goals from eleven appearances.

He started this 2013/14 as first choice striker alongside Lewis Grabban in the Championship with the Cherries but as his goalless streak continued to 27 games, he dropped down the pecking order behind Brett Pitman and Tokelo Rantie.

With just six months remaining on his contract, Thomas was linked with Championship side Yeovil Town and League One clubs Wolves and Swindon.
