With the Cherries struggling with injuries, youth team member Danny Ings was called up to the first team for the Paint Pot match away at Northampton in October 2009.

Ings was handed the number 34 shirt and went on to make his first team debut after coming on as a substitute.

Despite struggling with injuries, Ings was handed his first professional contract during the summer of 2010, signing a short term deal, which was extended in September 2010 until the end of the 2010/11 season. On the same day he joined Dorchester Town on loan, scoring on his debut.

On his return from Dorchester after scoring 7 goals in 13 appearances in the Conference South, Ings was rewarded with a contract extension until the summer of 2012, which was then extended again in February 2011 following his first goal for AFC Bournemouth against Swindon.

Ings completed the season with eight goals from twenty eight appearances and was sold to Championship side Burnley in August 2011 for an undisclosed fee reported to be in the region of 1million.
