This Could Be A Banana Skin Game

Huddersfield Town
vs.
AFC Bournemouth

John Smith's Stadium

11th February 2018

12pm

After another game where the Cherries had to come from behind at Dean Court to take all 3 points, this time off Stoke City, the Cherries sit in 9th place in the Premier League with 31 points, 7 points clear of a relegation spot they occupied not that long ago. Our next match is away against Huddersfield Town and it is next Sunday at noon at the Kirklees Stadium (now known as the John Smith`s Stadium). Its seating capacity is just over 24,000, probably around the size of the new stadium our club hope to build.

The last time we played Huddersfield at their ground was back in the 2014-15 season. It turned out to be our Championship winning season. In the away fixture Marc Pugh, Callum Wilson with a brace and Yann Kermorgant were the scorers. In the game at Dean Court which finished 1-1, Yann was on the scoresheet again (if only he was a bit younger, think he would have been an asset for us in the PL).

Huddersfield Town visited Dean Court on the 18th November 2017 and were beaten 4-0. AFCB were 2-0 up with a brace from Callum Wilson and just before half-time Simon Francis received his second yellow card and was sent off. It seemed to make little difference and in the second half the Cherries added a couple more goals, with Callum Wilson ending the game with a hat-trick and receiving the match ball. Harry Arter was the scorer of the other goal. This left Huddersfield in 10th place in the Premier League after 12 games with 15 points. AFCB were in 13th place on 13 points. Huddersfield ended the year in 11th place after 21 games on 24 points. AFCB finished the year in 14th place on 20 points.

The New Year hasn`t been so good so far for Huddersfield seeing them lose all their games so far. January saw them lose at home to West Ham and Liverpool, away they lost to Leicester City and Stoke City. The only game in February so far, they lost away at Old Trafford to Manchester United by 2-0. This has seen them slide down the table and into a relegation spot. After 26 games they are in 19th spot on 24 points. The win against Stoke City, sees the Cherries on their longest unbeaten run of 7 games in the Premier League and puts the club in 9th spot on 31 points. On Tuesday night Huddersfield won their 4th round FA Cup replay against Birmingham City 1-4 after extra time.

In the January Transfer Window, Huddersfield brought in two players, midfield player Alex Pritchard for £11 million from Norwich City and on loan from Monaco centre-back Terence Kongolo.

Huddersfield Town Team News:

Christopher Schindler and Laurent Depoitre both missed the FA Cup game against Birmingham City due to injuries picked up against Manchester United. The Huddersfield manager is hopeful both will be back for the game against AFCB on Sunday.

Player to watch: Laurent Depoitre

Laurent Depoitre the big striker, leading scorer with 5 goals, plus 1 assist. If he doesn`t play Aaron Mooy the Australian midfield player with 4 goals and 2 assists.

AFC Bournemouth Team News:

Steve Cook and Adam Smith could be available for selection for the Huddersfield game according to Eddie Howe.

Player to watch: Callum Wilson

Callum Wilson, seems to like playing against Huddersfield, with a brace on his last visit to their ground in the Championship and a hat-trick at Dean Court in the Premier League.
