Here We Go Again!
17th January 2018
As we are still recovering from our first ever win against Arsenal, it`s back to the unwanted trip up North to play Wigan in the replay of our FA Cup game on Wednesday night at 7.45 pm. Then three days later we have another game in the league, this time away against West Ham. Wigan play at the DW Stadium which officially opened in August 1999. Wigan and AFCB were in Division 2 at the time and our first visit to their 25,000 seater stadium was in November of that year and we were beaten 3-1.
On Saturday at home against Peterborough in League 1 which ended 0-0, Wigan fielded the same starting 11 that started at Dean Court. On the other hand of the starting 11 in our team that beat Arsenal, only four started against Wigan at Dean Court. They were Adam Smith, Steve Cook, Nathan Ake and Ryan Fraser. Of our subs that came on against Wigan at the start of the second half and changed the game, were Jordan Ibe and Marc Pugh, both assisting with our goals. Ibe the provider for Lys Mousset and Marc Pugh`s cross was headed in by Steve Cook. Callum Wilson came on in the 71st minute to replace Benik Afobe.
Wigan Athletic Team News:
Our old player Shaun MacDonald has suffered another injury blow and will be missing for the FA Cup replay. Otherwise they should have a strong squad to pick from. James Vaughan who has joined Wigan from Sunderland is unavailable as he has already played in the cup for Sunderland.
Player to watch: Nick Powell
Leading scorer and attacking midfield player Nick Powell who has scored 11 league goals so far.
AFC Bournemouth Team News:
Harry Arter and Andrew Surman will probably start in midfield, with Benik Afobe up front alongside Lys Mousset. After Wigan taking a two goal lead at Dean Court in the previous encounter it will be interesting how Eddie views this game with a league game on Saturday. Does he field a team that could win this game or stick with a similar starting line-up that played at Dean Court? He may also have Josh King and Junior Stanislas available after injury and give them a bit of time on the pitch.
Player to watch: Lys Mousset
Lys Mousset after his substitute appearance against Arsenal will probably be a starter again in the FA Cup replay at Wigan. Scored in the game at Dean Court and will be after getting a goal in the game on Wednesday night.
