Local derby or Not? We Need To Win It!
3rd December 2017
After a poor home performance in front of our fans against Burnley, the Cherries will hope to get back to winning ways against 'them` from down the road on Sunday, some call it a local derby, others not, the debate goes on! Hopefully our players will think it is and give that bit more. Southampton lost in their away game on Wednesday night, with a last minute goal coming from Raheem Sterling for Manchester City, as he did in controversial circumstances in the game at Dean Court back in August.
They started the season with another new manager, this time Mauricio Pellegrino who is from Argentina. Saints have signed midfield player Mario Lemina from Juventus for £20 million, defender Wesley Hoedt from Latzio, another defender Jan Bednarek from Lech Poznan for an undisclosed fee. Amongst those leaving were striker Jay Rodriguez to West Brom for £15 million and goalkeeper Paulo Gazzinga for an undisclosed fee.
Southampton are at present in 11th position, 2 points above 15th placed AFCB. Saints have had a poor November, losing three of their four games and winning one. So far away from home Saints have played 6 games and Won 1, Drawn 3 and lost 3. In the away league table they are in 13th position, but have played 1 game less than the others. At home they have played 8, Won 3, Drawn 2 and Lost 3. In the home league they are in 9th position, but have played 1 more game than the other sides. The Cherries are in 17th place in the home league, having played 7 games, Won 2, Drawn 1 and Lost 4. In the away league they are in 11th place, having played 7, Won 2, Drawn 1 and Lost 4.
AFC Bournemouth Team News:
Still a doubt over Junior Stanislas being fit to be available for selection on Sunday. After the Burnley defeat, Eddie Howe has a selection problem with the three substitutes making a difference when they came on the pitch at various stages in the second half. Lewis Cook looked lively and put a spark into our midfield. Jermain Defoe had a hand in King`s goal and Ryan Fraser gave us a different option on the wing.
Player to watch: Lewis Cook
If chosen will go for a midfield player for us in Lewis Cook, he will be out to try and persuade his boss that a midfield spot should be his.
