This Will Be A Tough Game To Get A Point
26th August 2017
It was a welcome relief to see the Cherries hit the back of the net with two goals coming from first team players Ryan Fraser and Marc Pugh after being 0-1 down against Birmingham in the League Cup. This should give the players a boost going into the league game at Dean Court on Saturday.
The Cherries have been drawn at home against Brighton in the third round round of the League Cup and Saturday`s opponents Manchester City have been drawn away at West Brom.
After two league defeats so far, the Cherries are home again against one of the Premier League`s money machines, in this case Manchester City who are in the top section of what has been called a 'three part league`: those who will, those who might and those who won`t. Though Leicester had something to say about it upsetting the odds to win the title.
The para below was in the previous preview on the Man City game when they visited Dean Court last February. It could easily refer to now after our team`s first two performances in the league, but this is the beginning of a new season and now the team have had a win in the cup.
"The recent results has had a negative effect on our side which has lost some of their confidence and it has spread to certain elements of our fan base as well who have been asking questions about our manager and his backroom staff and our team."
Manchester City have been spending again in the Summer transfer market with the six new players costing over £200 million. Kyle Walker a right-back from Spurs for £50 million, Benjamin Mendy a left-back from Monaco for £49.2 million, Bernardo Silva a midfield player also from Monaco for £43 million, Ederson a goalkeeper from Benfica for £34.7 million, Danilo a full-back from Real Madrid for £26.9 million and Douglas Luiz a midfield player from Brazilian club Vasco De Gama for an undisclosed fee.
Manchester City have started their league campaign with a win and a draw. The win was away to newcomers Brighton and the draw was home against Everton.
AFC Bournemouth Team News:
Simon Francis will probably be unavailable still. Eddie Howe could try some changes from a listless side who played in the Premier League game against Watford and add a bit of fresh energy and spirit to the team.
Player to watch: Jermain Defoe
The 90+ minutes Jermain Defoe had against Birmingham, should have given him the match time to get sharp and back to full fitness. Be good to see him open his account on Saturday.
Manchester City Team News:
New signing Kyle Walker will miss the game after picking up two yellows against Everton. It looks like it`s too early for returns for midfielders Fabian Delph, Ilkay Gundogan and left-back Benjamin Mendy.
Player to watch: Raheem Sterling
There are a few to choose from including Sergio Aguero a goal machine last season. Kevin de Bruyne MOM twice in matches against us in the Premier League. Gabriel Jesus the exciting young Brazilian who hit the Premier League running scoring a number of goals in a small number of games. But one name who always scores against us is Raheem Stirling another two times MOM against us and he has scored in all three games he has started against us and in one game hit a hat-trick. Will he start with the new signings keeping him out of starting against Everton? Came on as a sub against Everton and scored their equaliser with a clinical finish.
