Cherries host Northampton in League Cup

After our defeat Saturday we move on to a League Cup game against League 2 side Northampton Town at Dean Court in the 2nd Round.

In the first round both sides won away, AFC Bournemouth beating Exeter 2-0 and Northampton claiming the scalp of Championship side Wolves in a 3-2 victory.

AFC Bournemouth Team News:

Expect changes from the starting side against Blackburn.

Could be Pitman and Rantie up front on Tuesday night.

Player to watch: Brett Pitman

Would like to see Rantie make his mark at last but probably go for Pitman and hope he shows us his goal scoring we know he is capable of.

Northampton Town Team News:

Probably not many changes for them from the side that drew 1-1 at home against Shrewsbury. According to the Northampton Chronicle Danny Alfei is the only player likely to return from injury for Cobblers duty in the Capital One Cup at Bournemouth on Tuesday night.

Player to watch: John-Joe O'Toole

John-Joe O'Toole the midfield player they signed from Bristol Rovers. He was leading scorer for Rovers and 4th highest scorer in League 2 last season.

Match Facts & Stats

The last meeting between the 2 sides was at Dean Court in the 2009-2010 season in League 2, they beat us 2-0 and 2-0 in their home fixture.

In matches including league and cup we have W38 D24 L39 F149 A152.
