lets not forget Steve Sly in all this

Not being mischievous, why, what was his role?

at the end of the day it's us, the longtime supporters of the club, who'll be here long after uncle Jeff, Watkins, Barton, Swaisland, Nolan et al are long gone

Not sure what the urban myths are about Watkins but I would have him down as an "us the longtime supporter". He is certainly at the games this "longtime supporter" is at.

If anyone seriously thinks we’d have been better off without him, then I’d love to know exactly where they think we’d be right now! He got lucky, yes, but so did we as a football club and as fans, and if he’s profiting from that luck now then so be it, I didn’t see anyone else chucking that kind of serious money in during our hour of need.

I can only imagine that those who don’t like him are the type that find it hard to like anyone more successful than themselves.

He's still a massive fan and goes to most games he can for sure. He's more of a fan than Mostyn for sure, despite all of his schmoozy hyperbole.

i always thought he gave the Mostyn consortium(s) a bit of they’re “one of us” but the fact they promised investment that actually turned out to be a loan was a bit difficult to take.

What can’t be argued is that whatever happened then had be done any differently I doubt we would have ended up where we are now so Mostyn and Mitchell both deserve some begrudging credit. I guess murry too

... and Savi?

cant argue with history. It’s like when you hear the story of th Beatles. If one thing had happened differently it could have completely changed the outcome. But Savi only gets the smallest of nods and Baker. If I remember correctly though they spectre of Mostyn was always in the background.

Side note. If not for Mostyn I would never had heard or found out what a debenture was. So there’s that.

Some loan notes were repaid. Not many, but some were.

Jeff could have walked away when he had his heart attack. He didn't and surely it couldn't have been just for financial reasons. I've watched him over the years and believe he is in love with the club and it's fans. And no, I'm not getting soft, just can't see enough bad to make me think otherwise.

Let's not forget in all this were they heroes or villains Adam Murry was the one with he foresight to appoint Eddie and that decision was beyond any financial value.

Adam Murry I had no problem with. Especially helping me set up the free season tickets for armed forces scheme, which was generously donated too by people on this messageboard.
Approachable and honest.

Adam Murry was, I believe, key in getting Eddie and Jason back here.

That’s both stupid and naive in equal measure.
