Just been reading the Echo story of when Krasner came in.

Picked this comment out from Eddie, basically I think how a lot of us thought as well.

"If anyone had said to me back then what would happen, I would have laughed because there was no way I thought this club could ever be in the Premier League, ever.

"There was no way I thought we could even be sustainable in the Championship.

"You dream, you hope and think what if?

I remember reading that BBC article at uni, seriously worried about the contemplation of finding another team to support. Would a group have developed a phoenix? Where would it be right now if that happened? Scary thoughts.

Curious though, if we had folded, would you 'support' another team? Or just feel a void whenever a vidiprinter appeared? Weird to consider that for me and I'm pretty much a relative JCL.

I would have switched to Pompey with a return clause if Afcb became a Phoenix club! Or possibly given Poole Town my loyalty, but they nearly closed down too!

I'm sure there would have been the will for a phoenix club to form - by L2 standards we were always a very well supported club.

The difficulty would have been finding somewhere to play. As a phoenix club playing in the non-league, DC wouldn't have been viable until we got back into the conference due to the rent. And I doubt the local council would have been particularly helpful too back then.

I wonder if a merger with Poole Town would ever have been an option? AFC Poole and Bournemouth Albion?

Interesting that four of the teams in League One that season are in the Premier League this year.

And 4 of the teams in that league are no longer in the EFL.

We have actually done a Phoenix type thing the way we came from us fans chucking notes and coins into the buckets and Eddie & co becoming the classiest football playing outfit this side of Kazakdoodah and we might even play there shortly. Thursday on my mind! Roll the dice Callum and let's stay
on the table!

That Krasner used to wind me up. He always seemed so pleased with the situation and couldn't wipe the smile off his face. I'm sire I read that his firm made an absolute fortune out of it all despite everyone else getting pence in the pound. What exactly did they do to help?

As far as the club sinking without a trace. I was never all that worried about that - one way or another the club was always going to come back. I can't think of an example of a club of any decent size that has just disappeared. Certainly not one from a place with half a million people on the doorstep.
