Surprised Tierney didn't book Wee man for landing on top of theStoke thug.
Just glad he saw it coming and didn't leave his leg planted on the ground, which would have almost certainly ended with a broken leg. DIRTY NORTHERN B@st#rds.

He was just stretching for a ball that was running away from him! What else is he supposed to do if he wants to be competitive? Its the speed of today's game that is the problem! Nothing to to with him being a Stoke player!

...are you a Stokie in disguise Bill?...I have noticed you springing to their defence quite a lot on here?

It was a mistimed poor tackle....Stoke are a combative side and these tackles will happen in their games...that said they have one of the cleanest records in terms of cards given...so maybe we are following the stereotypical viewpoint..

I still think that they are a horrible team and don't have much grace in their gameplay...

No Garbo -To me Stoke are, yes, not very attractive at all as we all know- but I've seen many identical near collisions caused by our players too over the years and this type of thing is going to get worse as the game gets even faster and large players like Choupo who can't shift their heavy bodies quickly
enough will the be the problem.They need to ban sliding tackles maybe , I'm not sure but continual obsession with Stoke by our fans is fruitess.

I saw the tackle live and it was clear what was going to happen long before contact was made. Fortunately Ryan had time to see it too and made sure his leg wasn’t stuck in the ground.

This tackle was nothing to do with the speed of the modern game. It was a dangerous tackle that should have resulted in a red card and lengthy ban. I’d say the same if it was a Stoke player or in the pub league

In 1975 I played in an inter-navy game against a Royal marine team at Rockley in Poole( not much better than pub level tbh) I was a 5ft 6in skinny little winger and was tackled by a huge bulky 6'2" defender - my medial ligament was torn and stretched, carried off as they thought it was a broken leg -agony. Had it operated on but was never able to play again with any speed so didn't bother. He slid into me on a slightly muddy patch and could not stop his momentum and that was not given as a foul in what was very slow football compared to the PL professional game. Just a reflection!

Sure is a boring Thursday! Shall I stop gobbing off though, because I'm starting to get fed up and depressed by my own posts when I look back at them! I hate these weeks before bloody Sunday games. I get into another self that hunts down controversy to fill the void. I can't seem to find middle ground between hate and humour!

From Paul Lambert's press conference today;
"There are a really good group to work with and they perhaps just needed something different. I'm pretty sure that they are up for the fight and I think our performances have shown that."
Quite so Paul.

Sounds like Sunday games / boring Thursdays have helped you with self-awareness, Bill. Its always good when we discover unwelcome things for ourselves through self-revelation.

Oh don't worry John - I've done the self-realisation / revelation/ introspective browbeating on myself for years- always learning, always f####ing up, getting things very wrong, getting things very right, contradicting, helping people less fortunate in the street, quite a ride is life and where better than on forums to test your effect or get advice. Your comments are welcome and accurate. Up the Cherries!

Good luck - I quite like his long reports though, better than I could do it, for sure. Are you the John Hold that played for us by any chance?
