New Signing

Neil Dawson - 2/2/2018 21:10

I don’t expect that at all. Just for us to try and sign the positions we need. Players are always a lottery.

When we signed him we needed a striker, that was within our budget and prepared to come to a team tipped for relegation.

He scored some goals and helped us stay up, then next season he did the same. I don't quite see the issue.

Afobe had lot's of faults but there's no doubt we were better with him in the side last year. I'm sure someone posted some stats showing that he was our most effective player. Add that to his crucial goals in the first season he was here and it's clear he was a decent signing.

There is no issue. I didn’t rate him. Glen Murray came and scored some goals including the winner at Chelsea but a lot of people didn’t rate him either. It’s no biggy.

The point is Neil - he did what was required when we needed him to. Therefore he was a decent signing.

I often think some players would have to sleep with people’s wives on here before they got jip, and even then people would probably be saying ‘to give credit to the lad he has more stamina than me’.

Having read your opinions on loyalty and better offers. I assume if you came home and found Benik putting a smile on your wife's face and she said " Sorry Neil, luv but Mr Afobe made me a better offer". You'd shrug and say "I'll pop down to Clinton's, buy a sorry you're leaving card and get the kids to sign it". : )

He’d soon bring her back Table. Twenty four hours of her going on about the garden needing tidying up and he would pay for a jet to get her out of Wolverhampton;)

I was sad to see him go as I thought he offered us something different. However, if it's true he agitated for a move and drove the fee down then he can heck off. Good riddance. *If* it's true.

Perrett on Twitter...

This whole Benik Afobe saga has finally made me realise how grubby the game is, if I didn't already know. #afcb #wwfc

Perrett is a scummer. I would have thought he has bigger things to worry about.

Nothing as bitter as a football fan who has been scorned by a player. looking at some of the comments on social media

Benik did a decent job for us in his first two seasons scored some important goals and was handy at the back defending corners. This year he could not get in the team and lost confidence. Shock horror he wants to play games realised he was further down the pecking order so is pleased that he has got a loan deal. Lots of players happy to just sit on there arse picking up there money. Hope he does well, it will be interesting to see if he can rediscover his form

While social media generally exaggerates outrage his attitude around the move is what's upset people. Grabban is not getting any stick for example.

Afobe has agitated the move against EH's wishes. “Letting him go was a decision I didn’t really want to make..." - EH

On the switch, from a club he's been at two years to join a club he's been at for a year for a 3 month loan he's said:
"I've had two serious career-threatening injuries in football before, but that six hours was probably the most difficult of my life because that's how much I wanted to come back to Wolves."
"I was in my car crying when they told me the deal was on with 20 minutes to go because I knew there was no going back now in the sense of them cancelling or the deal not being on again."
"When I said I want to go back [Eddie Howe] kept saying no, but he rang me and said I didn't want you to go..."
"Two years ago I left, everyone knows that, it's been good playing at Bournemouth in the Premier League but I'm glad to be home, this feels like home for me."
"It's a loan right now and I'm just concentrating and focusing on doing well and scoring some goals,"
"I've seen players before on Deadline Day hoping to get their dream move but it hasn't happened for one reason or another and they end up going back to their clubs. I'm lucky it happened for me"
(on playing at AFCB) "I'm one of those guys who think that things happen for a reason in life."
...and so on, if you care to Google

Scott Malone made a permanent move up a league after being 2nd choice left back and 3rd choice winger here and said the infamous out of context "last laugh" comment which he's been vilified for ever since.

Grabban "not getting any stick"!? Have you been living in a cave for the last few years? Grabban has been vilified regarding his moves by many on here.

I really can't get myself worked up about a player as some do on here. Perhaps Eddie told him he was going nowhere so what was his alternative ? Sit on the bench behind Mousset and in a few weeks Defoe as well as King,Wilson or attempt to get game time.

I think its a tremendous loan move for him. His fault if any, is attempting to endear himself to Wolves fans who 3 months ago thought they were too good for him..and then the goals started to dry up.

For the Brighton approach and Norwich transfer - yes, for the loans to Reading, Sunderland and Villa maybe I've not been paying attention but I've not seen anything but well wishing (probably in the hope he'll get sold).

Maybe I am living under a rock!

Personally, I don't really mind I was hoping we'd sell him as he's surplus to requirements. If you read literally anything on the transfer you'd see your hypothetical scenarios are totally wrong.

His fault if any, is burning his bridges with EH and his misguided belief that if Wolve's get promoted they will sign and play him.

Agreed.

But he did the same when he wanted out from Wolves and they are taking him back.

Mad you may say, but we've got form.

Grabban and Wiggins.

Neither, certainly not the latter, were accepted by the fans though. Wolves supporters on the other hand are lapping up this "coming home" tripe.

Lost a lot of respect for him due to his comments regarding this move.

Not all that long ago it was him singing our praises that got us Jack Wilshere, yet now he's begging to leave.

Glad to see the back of him now tbh.

The guy gets dogs abuse from the stands the whole time he's here, even when he's playing well, and people want him to sing the praises of the club when he leaves.

I really don't know why people think players should feel the same about their club as fans do - this is their career. They are in it for themselves as they should be.

He hasn't left though! Still under contract at our club.

That being said, obviously I'm totally against those giving abuse from the stands.
