Given his form over the last 6 months what do you think his value is realistically?

I’d let him go for 7 or 8 million.

Why any team would bit over and above that is beyond me.

Maybe last season there was an expectation of his worth, but this season and some of last he has been pretty average.

8 million will get you an easy replacement on current form.

Just can’t see why any team would chase him on current (last 6 months) form.

You sure it would get a replacement in the current market? Norwich want £14 million for Pritchard, 3.5 years younger but virtually zero PL experience.

A bad six months doesn't mean Arter has lost it, as evidenced by the interest in him. He's at an age where he's still in prime fitness and I would be loathe to let him go as if his mojo comes back no one else at the club can get in the face of the opposition like him. Letting him go to a club that we may be battling for relegation would be an even bigger mistake.

I want him to stay. I hope he stays. I think we need him. I'd turn down a £20 million bid for him without a moment's hesitation.

If he goes I hope it's his decision to go.

He's been a bloody good servant to AFCB.

If he wants to stay and fight for his place then good for him.

When it comes to the amount we get?

Well anything over 4,000 quid and we're in profit.

I also hope Woking have a huge fuck off sell clause with us.

Think this should very much depends if he wants to be here. I have a feeling he may want pastures new and if so & we were offered anything like £20M I'd take it. Sad to see him go though.

Nope, he should stay forever like the rest of the L1 squad.

Seriously...I thought £5M wasn't bad, but as we are are brassic (It the grand scheme of £150M coming in this season) I can understand why we are trying for more.

We won’t get offered anything like 20 million.

I thought West Hams bid was a fair one.

If he wants out........

Sell him.

Something has obviously upset him.

We need to leave his personal life aside, and not make excuses for him.

It’s much more likely to be football related than his personal life imo.

I agree that we won't get anything like that for him. My point was that should the bubbles go to some rich chairman's head and he make a silly offer I'd still turn it down.

Fair point, if he's said to EH that he wants to go that's a different matter. I hope that isn't the case though.

Has something changed since this story?

CHERRIES officials have today moved swiftly to scotch speculation linking Harry Arter with a failed £5million bid from West Ham.

A report in The Sun claimed the Hammers had tabled the offer for the 27-year-old but suggested Cherries would want more than "twice as much" for Arter who cost the club £4,000 from non-league Woking in 2010.

However, a club spokesperson said there was "absolutely no truth" to the story, adding that the Vitality Stadium outfit had "not received any bids".

Like others have said, if Harry has told Eddie he'd like to move on, nothing much we can do, none of us would want an unhappy player in the squad. I'd not want to sell him to West Ham though ideally, unless it was in the summer. As for the fee, I'd think around 10m would be fair.

All depends on Arter. If he is happy at the club and wants to stay & fight, feels he can rediscover his form here, then he has to stay. Whatever another club might be prepared to offer, he's likely worth more to us when on form. We dont really have anyone else like an on form Arter, and a replacement won't be growing on trees.

If some bridge has been burned, feels it's unlikely that we'll see his best for AFCB again, wants a new challenge, whatever it might be - then there's little point having him moping around kicking bottles up and down the touchline.

I'm sure that conversation must have happened or will happen behind the scenes at some point.

I did find this part of the report slightly unusual for us

"but suggested Cherries would want more than "twice as much" for Arter"

Normally we don't comment on speculation at all. If the above actually was said by a club spokesman, it comes across as we are naming our price which would indicate we are open to offers for Harry. I might be reading too much into it but as I said, its not how we normally do things....

No doubt Harry is unhappy about his current form. Any player as keen as he is would be, but is there any actual concrete evidence that he is no longer happy being at AFCB and wants away?
The whole of this thread seems to me to be pure speculation and rumour mongering plus a bit of media stirring all feeding on itself.

Harry's body language says he's not happy - no surprise if he goes. Comparison to Pritchard - who seems likely to sign for Hudds - is a good one. I'd be happy if we signed Pritchard - always liked him, since he was all over us for Brentford in both games of the last Championship season.

Pritchard is all-action: the way Arter used to be. Would love it if Harry could recover that form but something says his heart isn't in it.

I thought it was the newspaper who mentioned that.

A player's value is what anyone will pay. Simple as that. Next phase in our story is the dismantling of the greatest team we have ever had.

Ritchie, Elphick and Pitman were the first to go. This is arguably Eddie's biggest challenge. To build a team capable of a consistent place in the premier league. A team that is built of various individuals rather than a group of players that bonded through adversity.

Spurs, Chelsea, Arsenal, City and United, Liverpool and Everton have done it. Outside of that group the longest is Stoke with 10 seasons. That looks like it could end.

The end of a magnificent era in our history. I will stand and clap and cheer whenever any of them step out on our pitch against us.
