'If It's Football, It's Vital'

O'Driscoll on the telly

Sean O'Driscoll, Steven Foley and Neil Young featured on Meridian's Soccer Night last night.

The trio were interviewed at the Cherries training ground after Bournemouth were featured on the programme.

Speaking to Meridian Soccer Night manager Sean O'Driscoll spoke about the problems with transfer window...

'To lose some of your better players at this early part of the season, its replacing them that is the problem.

Nobody wants to give you better players than the ones you've lost, so that is the difficulty and this is the first time its happened, the first time the transfer window has been in January, so its a learning experience for a lot of clubs.'

He continued to discuss the situation with James Hayter...

'James is ambitious, I think if a Championship club came in for him and they accepted the bid then, I think, he would move on.

But at this moment in time, it hasn't happened and again he's a free transfer at the end of the season, with a bosman. So the world's is oyster.'

He finished with how he visions success at Bournemouth...

'I think the average tenior at lower league clubs is 18 months. Which is another thing that keeps you going because, you think that 'I've defied the odds'.

We've got our own idea's of what success is. If we can progress, take little steps or very small steps. It is not going to come in vast leaps, so for Bournemouth we`ll be inching our way and if we keep inching our way then one day, we might get there'

Neil Young and Steven Foley were also interviewed.

New signing Steven Foley said...

'I've enjoyed ever minute of it, I`ve come here and Sean has given me a chance, it's been great really. It's good just to play first team football.'

Current team captain Neil Young added...

'When you look at Bournemouth, there is so much money around here, it's just a little bit suprising no-one has ever come in for the club and took the club over.

This club has got everything, the stadium we have got now is as good as any. I`m just a bit suprised that no-one has come in and bought the club out'

Meridian Soccer Night is shown on ITV1 on Thursday nights at around 11pm.
