Howe: I thought we gave everything against Spurs

AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe was pleased with his sides performance against Tottenham Hotspur, despite the scoreline.

The Cherries came out of the blocks quickly live on Sky's Super Sunday, an excellent ball from Lewis Cook played through Lys Mousset and he then slid it across to Junior Stanislas who clipped it over the goalkeeper, only to see it rebound off the crossbar.

But Stanislas didn't have long to dwell on his miss as just a couple of minutes later he opened the scoring with a well taken goal.

Spurs eventually took control of the first half and would equalise before half time when Ali got in front of Begovic from a cross down the Spurs right.

The comeback was complete on the hour mark when, rather fortuitously, Son Heung-min scored their second.

He would then go on to score their third, when AFC Bournemouth lost possession deep in Tottenham's half and having committed everyone forward for a free kick Son Heung-min raced through to easily beat Begovic one on one.

Serge Aurier then pounced on a flapped Begovic effort at a cross to score the fourth.

Howe told

'We started strongly and it was an intense period for both sets of players.

'I thought we gave everything, the game was a very quick pace but ultimately they were too good...

'...I thought (the disallowed goal) was very very soft from the referee, there was minimal contact from my perspective...'

'...We were 2-1 down at the time and it had a huge bearing on the result.

Your Say...

We get a perfectly good equaliser disallowed for no good reason.

Son stands right in front of the ball to stop us taking a free kick. We pass it sideways, lose it and Son strolls half the length of the pitch and scores! Q 'Nice one Son-nie!!!!' etc

poor refs, we always get poor refs more like!
