Howe: Pleased with Defoe progress
AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has been pleased with the rehabilitation progress of Cherries and England striker Jermain Defoe.
Defoe suffered a fractured ankle following a mistimed tackle by Ethan Ampadu during AFC Bournemouth's EFL Cup defeat to Chelsea just before Christmas.
It was initially reported that he would be sidelined for around 10 weeks, which would see him sidelined until around March, but there seems to be hints that he could return a few weeks early.
Prior to the game against Stoke, Howe told the Daily Echo...
'Jermain is still with the physios and is working on the grass. He's building his fitness levels.
'He's not with the sports science team - there has been no handover to that department.
'I think he still has a little way to go but he's doing very well and we are very pleased with his progress.'
25 man squad
The headline here is surely Jermain 'Colin' Defoe.
