Howe: Board would always be supportive of me
AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe believes the Cherries board will back him during the upcoming January transfer window.
However, Howe is not convinced that he will be looking to add to his squad during January.
Howe has been insistent that the mid-season transfer window is notoriously difficult to do business in for many years.
Since promotion to the Premier League, Benik Afobe has proven to be the most notable January transfer window signing when he made the move to Dean Court in 2016.
The Cherries broke the then club record transfer fee to sign Afobe, following a season ending injury for striker Callum Wilson.
Last season the only signing AFC Bournemouth made in January was to sign youth goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.
Howe told the Daily Echo...
'...I think the board would always be supportive of me if I felt we desperately needed something.
"The problem I`d have is looking at players we could afford, who would be available and would make the team better. It`s a difficult mix when you put the those things together. To find those players is almost impossible...
"...Spending money in this market is incredibly difficult. There are no guarantees. You could spend a huge sum and not help the team whatsoever.
"I believe we have a good enough squad to survive without bringing anyone in. The only thing we have to consider is whether injuries are long term."
Anyone heard of any genuine transfer rumors ? I know Eddie seems to think we will have a quiet window , but we must sign a couple of players to help our chances of staying in the premier league. Let's be honest we have to , otherwise I fear for our future. What ever league we are in I'll always support my team . - Join the conversation here.
