Howe: Twists and turns
AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has been pleased with the level of performance from his side against both West Ham United and Everton.
On Boxing Day the Cherries had to rely on a stoppage time controversial Callum Wilson goal to snatch a point against West Ham, in a game that really AFC Bournemouth had done enough to win if it hadn't have been for individual errors from goalkeeper Asmir Begovic.
Against Everton, AFC Bournemouth dominated chances in front of goal, but once again left it late to take the points.
The Cherries had taken a well deserved lead after Callum Wilson and Joshua King had linked up well to provide Ryan Fraser with a chance in front of goal which the Scottish international took with aplomb.
However another individual error, this time from Steve Cook, gifted Everton the chance to equalise.
The points looked set to be shared until a deflected Ryan Fraser shot drifted into the back of the net to secure AFC Bournemouth all three deserved points.
The result lifted AFC Bournemouth out of the bottom three to 13th.
Howe told afcb.co.uk...
'...The last two games really have been incredible with twists and turns, but there`s been really good performances under there.
'We make it difficult for ourselves and that`s where true character comes though. A goal for them could`ve easily changed the momentum and that could`ve played games with us. We were strong at the end of the game and that was pleasing...'
'...We`re well aware of how tight the league table was and is. Two good results and everything changes and two bad results it changes the other way.
'You need results and I`ll always try and be honest. I`m pleased to say we`ve won and played well, that`s the best combination that a manager can say.
Bloody hell we worked hard for that.
As ever our defence does something absolutely and utterly moronic. Has, has to be addressed.
But aside from that we keep going, we work hard, and we have some tricky players in attack. Fraser is coming back into a purple patch and that usually wins us a few points every season.
Just sort that flippin defence out Eddie. A touch of fortune today shouldn't disguise problems.
But the main takeaway is that our squad are fighting, and relegated sides generally don't fight like that. We'll just about be ok, but with a few tweaks we could make it easier on ourselves - Join the conversation here.
