Wilson: Touch of magic

Wilson: Touch of magic

AFC Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson claimed he had a touch of magic in the Cherries last gasp equaliser against West Ham United on Boxing Day.

The Cherries looked like they would leave a wet Dean Court with nothing, despite dominating possession and raining down 26 attempts on Adrian's goal.

But in stoppage time, Lewis Cook drifted a ball in that was met by Nathan Ake with a header.

Striker Callum Wilson attempted to get on the end of it at the back post. In real time it wasn't clear whether he was onside or whether he touched the ball at all.

The officials weren't clear either and took their time to discuss the decision before opting to give the goal, resulting in a 3-3 draw.

Super slow motion replays suggest that Wilson could well have been offside, with the ball additionally also taking a slight touch from Wilson's arm.

Wilson told Sky Sports...

'Sometimes you get those decisions against you and I've just tried to go in as a striker and get the ball in. I put a little touch on it, to our delight, but not so much for West Ham.'

'It was eventful. It seems to be the way against West Ham, we always have high scoring games, although not always to our liking.

'It was disappointing not to get the three points, we were playing really well up until the slip and then it's about character to get back into the game then.'

When asked what touch he got onto the ball, Wilson said...

Your Say...

From behind the goal in the NS I assumed the decision was over offside / interfering with play. May have been offside but the ball never touched him so adjusted not interfering with play. As so far as I could tell the ball didn't touch whoever was nearest the line. So that was my conclusion. But the NS was hectic to say the least so it's entirely possible I missed something.

Handball didn't even cross my mind, didn't look anywhere near it from my view? Will watch MOTD with interest when possible.
