Howe: It's a key period for us

AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe believes his side are set to enter a key period in their 2017/18 Premier League campaign.

The Cherries are now without a victory in eight games in all competitions, the latest defeat, a loss to Premier League runaway leaders Manchester City left AFC Bournemouth in the relegation zone for Christmas.

The Cherries took the positives from narrow defeats to Chelsea in the Football League Cup and to Manchester United in the Premier League, but now must take some results from those performances in the upcoming weeks.

Next up at Dean Court are West Ham United on Boxing Day, who are just one place and one point ahead of the Cherries.

Then it's Everton who are now in the top half following a run of 5 wins in 7 games.

On New Years Day, the Cherries travel along the coast to Brighton & Hove Albion, who are 5 points ahead of AFC Bournemouth in 12th.

Howe told

'What a run of fixtures we've had - but we're through that now.

'Playing four top sides consecutively is tough, but we now have to focus on the games we have coming up.

'It's a key period for us.

We knew what we would get the past few weeks. Tough games against the best.
Failure against the also rans is not acceptable from now on.
