Howe: Wilson threat was there to see

AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe believes that Callum Wilson's return following his second knee injury has been far more positive.

In only his third Premier League appearance following a devastating knee injury and his first start in the Premier League this season at Dean Court, Callum Wilson bagged three goals as the Cherries knocked off newly promoted Huddersfield Town 4-0.

Wilson scored the opener with a near post header and just five minutes later he had notched his second at the back post following an excellent delivery from Andrew Surman.

His third and the Cherries fourth, came in the second half after excellent play by Joshua King to hold the ball up and the lay it off perfectly for Wilson.

His goals were much more satisfying as this was the second time he has returned from such an injury, after previously injuring his other knee during AFC Bournemouth's first season in the Premier League.

Howe told the Daily Echo...

'...Cruciates were ones which retired you back in the day but, with modern science and rehab techniques, they are not so serious now.

"The big thing with Callum this time was how good he looked when we saw him train. There was no limp, he ran really smoothly and his pace was there.

"For Callum, that is everything. He has always lived off playing off the last shoulder and getting in behind and you could see that threat was there."

Arter told the Daily Echo...

'...The lads were over the moon with the result and for him to get three goals...'

'...scoring the hat-trick was perfect.

"The lads were buzzing for him."

who has the higher potential- Wilson or King?

I know it's early to have this conversation with Wilson just coming back but assuming he regains his level before having the injuries, then who do you think will end up the better striker and why?

From the admittedly little I've seen of Wilson due to his injuries, I'd give him the slight edge. King is faster and arguably trickier 1 on 1 with a defender but I think Wilson has better positioning, decision making and slightly better finishing.

Callum deserves a chance for a good run in the team to prove his PL class!
