Howe: You work so hard to enjoy moments like that

AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe believes the last minute victory over Newcastle United was one of the best moments of the season to-date.

Howe raised a few eyebrows with his team selection for the trip to St James' Park.

Junior Stanislas and Benik Afobe were enforced changes due to injury, however Adam Smith, Jermain Defoe and Lewis Cook were also notably dropped from the starting XI.

Those changes saw AFC Bournemouth captain Simon Francis move from centre back to right back, to bring Steve Cook into the defence alongside Nathan Ake.

Lewis Cook dropped to the bench in favour of Harry Arter and upfront Callum Wilson made his first start of the season alongside the returning Joshua King.

Both strikers had their chances in front of goal, but the last gasp winner actually fell to Steve Cook who headed home from a corner.

Howe told afcb.co.uk...

'There have been plenty of lows, but that has to be up there with the best moment this season.

'Newcastle are compact and they don't concede many, we were under no illusions it was a really tough game.

'It was a really tough game, but we kept going, creating chance after chance.

'It was a really difficult game to win, these are the moments you enjoy because you work so hard for them.

Just calmed down. What a strange game. We made so many individual errors in the game. Under no pressure. Midfield just seemed nowhere. For an hour it was like 2 mini teams. Some blokes at the back defending and some blokes attacking with nothing in-between. I thought Arter began to take control a little in the second half. We looked better when Smith replaced ibe. Wilson and king looked good.

Love that we went for it last 5 or 10 minutes. Belief starting to show. Cook scores then prevents a goal by pushing their bloke over.

Shame there's 2 weeks before the next game.
