Francis: We know how big the next few games are

AFC Bournemouth captain Simon Francis insists that the Cherries squad know how vital the upcoming games over the next six weeks are for AFC Bournemouth's 2017/18 Premier League campaign.

AFC Bournemouth have lost seven of their opening ten games thus far this season.

The Cherries sit just one place above the bottom placed club in the division.

However, AFC Bournemouth have played four of the current top five during this difficult start to the season, with November and December giving the Cherries potentially a more favourable run of fixtures.

This weekend, the Cherries travel to newly promoted Newcastle United, who are currently 9th in the table.

Then after the international break it's another promoted side in Huddersfield United who are 13th.

From there it's Swansea City (17th), Burnley (7th), Southampton (10th) and Crystal Palace (20th).

Francis told the Daily Echo...

'The Chelsea game was not going to make or break our season but the next three, four or five games certainly will so we have to put in maximum performances to try to get maximum points out of them.

'We haven't had a start like this in the Premier League. If you look back over the past couple of seasons, we were higher than we are now...'

'...We know how big the next few games are. They are crucial in picking up points.

'We've been improving in the past few weeks. Against Stoke, we showed two sides of our game to win and I think it will be similar against Newcastle...'

It`s November plus first 2 games of Dec v palace and saints that are key. 6 games where 3 wins and 2 draws put us at c 18 points towards half way through the season. I would be ok with that especially if we beat West Ham at Christmas. - Join the conversation here.
