Wilson set to make Cherries return

Wilson set to make Cherries return

AFC Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson is set to step up his return from injury with an appearance in the Premier League Cup on Wednesday according to the Daily Echo.

The Cherries top goalscorer during their Championship winning season has been plagued by knee injuries during the Cherries first three seasons in the Premier League.

The former England Under 21's international was being spoken about in the media as a possible striker set to be called up into the full England squad when he injured his right knee in a match against Stoke City in September 2015. That ruled him out for a little over six months.

He played six games towards the end of that season and then featured in 21 games last season, scoring 6 goals before he was ruled out for the remainder of that campaign with another ACL injury, after Wilson had ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee in training.

He underwent surgery in February.

Wilson recently returned to training with the first team and will be selected as one of three over-age outfield players that are allowed to be played in the game against Norwich City.

Former AFC Bournemouth captain Carl Fletcher will be in charge of the game at Dean Court on Wednesday 4th October.

Kick off is 7pm with tickets priced at £3 for adults.

The Cherries will go on to face Bury and Wolverhampton Wanderers in the group stage of the competition.
