King: Good to get off the mark
AFC Bournemouth striker Joshua King was pleased to get his first goal of the season in the EFL Cup win over Brighton & Hove Albion.
The Norwegian international ended the last campaign with a career best 18 goals for club and country, but hasn't scored from his opening five Premier League games this season.
After 90 minutes of stalemate in the EFL Cup, substitute Joshua King broke the deadlock in extra time to score his first goal of the 2017/18 campaign and put AFC Bournemouth through to the next round of the competition.
King told afcb.co.uk after the game...
"It`s good to get off the mark, It`s my first goal of the season and one that you`re always looking to get. The fact that it was one that really helped the team was pleasing.
"It was a one-two with Marc Pugh and a good team goal and, now that I`m off the mark, I feel really good.
"Jermain Defoe got his first one last week and I got mine today so it`s good that we have strikers that can score, amongst other players. We have a strong squad.
"I feel fresh. Obviously we had a game on Friday so we`ve had a couple of days rest. But it was nice to come off the bench fresh and make an impact."
Nice finish but seemed to just walk through the Albion defenders.....great skill or bad defending?? - Join the conversation here.
