Federici set for surgery again

Federici set for surgery again

AFC Bournemouth goalkeeper Adam Federici is set for another operation on his previous injured knee.

The Australian international, who has dropped down the pecking order at Dean Court behind Asmir Begovic and Artur Boruc joined Championship side Nottingham Forest on transfer deadline day on loan.

But before making an appearance for his new adopted side, he joined up with his country during the international window.

It was whilst he was away that he appears to have re-injured his right knee.

In February, Federici had surgery after he damaged the cartilage in his knee in training. That sidelined him right through to his pre-season.

Howe told Daily Echo...

'Unfortunately, Adam felt his knee while training with the national team, the same one he had recently had surgery on.

'He has seen a specialist and we think he will be having an operation on Tuesday...

'...don't know if it will be as long term as previously. Before the surgeon goes in, I don't think we will know fully.

'Without knowing for definite, I would imagine he will have his operation in London and then have his rehab with us.'
