Howe: I have to take responsibility

AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe took full responsibility for the Cherries latest defeat to Arsenal.

The Cherries have started the 2017/18 Premier League campaign with defeats to West Bromwich Albion, Watford, Manchester City and Arsenal.

Whilst the latter two games wouldn't be games that the Cherries would realistically be targeting points, it's the level of performance that has left Howe disappointed.

With the exception of the performance against Manchester City, where a stoppage time goal deprived the Cherries of what would have been a well deserved point, AFC Bournemouth have been disappointing this season.

Two goals from Danny Welbeck and one from Alexandre Lacazette gave Arsenal a comfortable 3-0 victory at the Emirates Stadium.

Howe told Sky Sports after the game...

'...I have to be honest with people, I have to stand here and tell the truth, I cannot hide it.

'We were disappointing from start to finish, we have a lot of work to do. I have been here many times as a manager, it happens. You can't afford for it to happen in the Premier League...'

'...As manager I have to take collective responsibility for everything that has happened this season and vow to put it right.

'I looked at today's performance and didn't see what I wanted to see. I didn't see a Bournemouth team that really represented what we stand for. That's what I have to take responsibility for.'

Another poor performance. Based on the 3 games I have seen so far, we look in real trouble unless Howe fixes his well known down points. His plus points haven't clicked yet, and frankly he is getting let down by players.

Good - not a lot, but Defoe looked good on the very few times he was given the ball. Ibe was some sort of threat, Daniels okay and Ake good when in front of backline wen Francis and Cook dropped behind him, surely his best position is there?

Bad - Most things. Arter looked awful...I mean really bad, as was Gosling, King was also poor. The latter is probably down to Howe's insistence on playing him out of his best position. Arter cannot be excused now for yet another dreadful performance surely? 3 at the back didn't work today.

We know Howe is stubborn but we found it baffling to drop Surman but still keep Arter and play Gosling ahead of Cook.

Please, please I just want to see players actually put up some sort of fight.
