Lewis Cook: There is a lot of competition

England Under 20's World Cup winning captain Lewis Cook is hopeful he can enjoy a good second season with AFC Bournemouth.

The now 20 year old, joined the Cherries last summer from Leeds United.

He became one of only a few new signings to immediately break into an Eddie Howe XI, starting the opening game of the Premier League campaign against Manchester United.

However injury severely hampered his season and Cook had to wait eight months before he made another Premier League appearance.

Overall he made six Premier League appearances, including four starts.

Over the summer he was named as captain of the England team for the Under 20's World Cup, which England would go on to win, with Cook becoming the first England captain to lift a World Cup since Bobby Moore.

Cook told the Daily Echo...

"Last season was full of ups and downs but I definitely grew as a person and learned how to deal with things.

"I felt I improved in my training last year and had a few games towards the end of the season. I thought I did well.

"Going away in the summer and doing what we did there put me in great stead.

"There is a lot of competition for places here. Hopefully, the team can do well this season and we can have a really good go."
