Could Gradel make Sunderland move?

AFC Bournemouth winger Max Gradel has been linked with a move to Championship side Sunderland.

For a number of months it has been reported that Gradel wants to leave the Cherries this summer.

In January it was reported that according to Gradel's agent Desmond Tra, the Ivory Coast winger had handed in a transfer request to Cherries manager Eddie Howe.

Gradel was linked with French sides Marseille and Nantes and English sides Hull, Watford, Birmingham, West Ham and Burnley.

He however remained at Dean Court following the closing of the transfer window, but continued to see his chances remain very limited.

Last season Gradel has made just eleven Premier League appearances, all coming via the substitutes bench and totalling just 125 minutes, with only 33 minutes coming since October 2016.

In May, Gradel told French website

'...If we have to leave Bournemouth, I will leave. But I would not leave to leave, it's clear...'

'...The most important thing for me is to have fun on the pitch and play. It does not matter whether it's in the Premier League or another championship. I want to play. I am not old enough to take my salary quietly, even if it is good to be paid happily. But we do this sport and we love it because we are ready for anything. Me, I want to play is the most important...

According to a report via HITC...

'New Sunderland boss Simon Grayson is busy trying to reshape his squad at the Stadium of Light after taking charge last month and he has identified Gradel as a target.

Grayson is a big fan of Gradel having signed the Ivory Coast international during his time in charge of Leeds United.'

Gradel made 84 appearances for Leeds United during two spells between 2009 and 2011.

When Gradel came back from injury he was superb away to Watford and Newcastle. Of course he also got his goal against Swansea. Without his enthusiasm and energy I don't think we'd have stayed up that season.

I'm not sure what went wrong last season. Eddie seemed to lose faith in him while other wingers like Stanislas, Pugh and Fraser all upped their game.
