Howe: Pleased to beat last year's points total

AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe was pleased to beat the Cherries points total from last season with one game remaining.

During the Cherries maiden season in the top flight of English football, the Cherries earned 42 points and finished 16th in the Premier League table.

Following AFC Bournemouth's victory over Burnley on Saturday, the Cherries are now on 45 points and are currently sitting in 10th place with one game remaining.

Howe told afcb.co.uk...

'I'm really pleased with the result and to beat last year's points total, It was a great win and we had to show real character. Our second half performance was one of our better ones as we were totally dominant.

However Leicester City, West Ham United and Stoke City all have games in hand in midweek ahead of the final day of the season on Sunday.

Speaking to Sky Sports he added...

'It (a top half finish) would mean everything, of course we've got one game to try and finish off and to get more points from.

'It will be a tough game away at champions Leicester. We're in the hands of the teams around us to a certain extent but we'll try and finish it off next week.'
