Gradel: I can't sit on the bench, I must play
AFC Bournemouth winger Maxi Gradel has emphasised his desire to play regular first team football.
This season Gradel has made just nine Premier League appearances, all coming via the substitutes bench and totalling just 106 minutes, with only 16 minutes coming since October 2016.
The majority of his football has come for Ivory Coast in the Africa Cup Of Nations and it is his international career that may be focussing Gradel's desire for regular first team football.
Gradel told the Daily Echo...
'...I have been working hard every day in training. The manager is there to do a job, he is there to pick the players.
"The only thing you can do is keep training as hard as you can. The manager picks the team and you have to make sure that you are ready when he calls you.
"That is the only thing you can do as a player, there is nothing else. You have to be ready to do a job on the pitch.
"I know it is frustrating at times because I am at an age where I can`t sit on the bench, I must play. I know it is frustrating but you have to take it on board and carry on."

Yet, of all the players at the Sponsors evening (Wednesday) night, no-one looked happier than Max at the end of the evening. Laughing and joking with Eddie, looked happier than I have ever seen him. Very odd - Join the conversation here.
