Howe: We've made real positive steps

AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe was pleased to go into the international break with 7 points from a possible 9 against Manchester United, West Ham and Swansea City.

The Cherries had approached those fixtures with four consecutive defeats and without a victory in 2017.

But a point against Manchester United, despite being down to 10 men for the majority of the match has proved a catalyst for an upturn in results.

Wins over West Ham United and Swansea City are the first time the Cherries have recorded back to back victories in the Premier League since March 2016, whilst the win against Swansea provided AFC Bournemouth with their first 'double' over a side since promotion to the top flight of English football.

Howe told afcb.co.uk after the game...

'I think the Manchester United game was a real turning point and we knew how big the two home games against West Ham and Swansea were.

'The players knew the importance of tonight`s game and knowing how important it was they delivered a very good performance.

'I`m very pleased with the team, the way they conducted themselves despite the negative run shows what real character they have.

'Now, we`ve made real positive steps in the last three games and the win against Swansea is a big one for us.'

Your Say...

Somehow felt really low key. Swansea were the opposite of intense, whatever that may be.

Good result, great three points. Not too much else to say really.
