Francis: We will identify a first choice penalty taker

AFC Bournemouth captain Simon Francis insists the Cherries will identify a first choice penalty taker.

In recent years, AFC Bournemouth have always had indecision over who should take the penalties when awarded. Under former manager Kevin Bond there was the infamous fight over the ball between Maxi Gradel and Brett Pitman.

More recently there has been Junior Stanislas and Callum Wilson uncertain over who should take the spot kicks.

With both of those players absent recently, Joshua King has taken the penalties, but after his miss against West Ham United, Benik Afobe stepped up to take the second penalty kick of the afternoon, which was eventually saved.

Francis told the Daily Echo...

'(Penalties are) something we need to clear up. There are little arguments going on and it`s not great for team morale.

'I think we will identify a definite taker for the next penalties we are awarded. We have to decide who will take them for sure.

'We do not want to see any arguing over it.'

Against West Ham we had both Josh King and Benik Afobe missing them.

Remember we used to have Charlie Daniels step up and blast them in, plus Harry Arter.

Should Josh have had a second chance after missing the first? He scored a brilliant one last week at United.
