MacDonald: 100% focused on playing for Bournemouth

AFC Bournemouth midfielder Shaun MacDonald is aiming for a return to the Cherries first team fold.

The Cherries midfielder last season dropped down the pecking order at Dean Court and watched on as Harry Arter, Eunan O'Kane and Norwich City loanee Andrew Surman dominated the midfield selections.

This season the competition for the central midfield positions will be just as tough.

Whilst Surman has returned to parent club Norwich following their relegation from the Premier League, the Cherries have signed Dan Gosling from Newcastle United on a free transfer.

MacDonald hopes however to break back into the first team following a hernia operation at the end of last season.

MacDonald told the Daily Echo...

"I have been catching up slightly during pre-season, I had a hernia operation in the summer and missed the first two days of training. I have trained more or less fully since then and everything has gone smoothly.

"I am carrying a little niggle but it is nothing serious. I feel I have done well in the games I have played and I am just looking forward to doing well for the team.

'I am 100 per cent focused on playing for Bournemouth. I love the club and want to do well for the manager, the players and the fans.

'Everyone has been brilliant with me since day one. Without putting pressure on myself, I want to get in the team and enjoy my football. Hopefully, I can kick on."
