Howe: Pleased with programme of friendlies

AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe is pleased with the Cherries pre-season schedule.

Whilst some of the squad have already been seen running through some fitness drills in Kings Park, the full squad return for pre-season training on Saturday.

With the ongoing work on the Dean Court pitch and Kings Park training ground, the early part of pre-season looks as though it may be disrupted with the loss of those pitches.

The Cherries head off to Austria on 7th July for a five day training camp, which concludes with a friendly against UEFA Champions League qualifiers FC Copenhagen of Denmark.

The side return to England for two friendlies against non league sides Salisbury and Dorchester before hosting Premier League neighbours Southampton on 25th July.

A trip to League Two neighbours Portsmouth follows before the Cherries host another Premier League side in the form of Swansea City.

Howe told the Daily Echo...

"We are very pleased and I think we have a really good structure to our programme of friendlies, starting with Copenhagen which will be a really difficult game against a very good team.

"We have some good tests locally against opposition which the lads should enjoy playing and then the Premier League games.

"Hopefully there is enough there for all the lads to get minutes under their belts. The most important things are that we go into the season confident and the lads feel fit."
