Coventry confirm Cherries bid

League One side Coventry City have confirmed that they have received bids from AFC Bournemouth for striker Callum Wilson.

Over the past few weeks the Cherries have been heavily linked with the 22 year old striker who scored 21 goals in 37 League One appearances last season.

The former Kettering and Tamworth loanee has also been linked with both Nottingham Forest and League One Champions Wolves.

Over the weekend it was reported that the Cherries had a seven figure bid rejected, whilst some reports on Monday suggested that Nottingham Forest were close to agreeing a deal.

The Coventry Telegraph have since reported that Coventry City`s development director Steve Waggott has confirmed that Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe is one of the managers trying to secure the Sky Blues star striker.

However thus far all bids have been rejected, with the newspaper valuing Wilson 'anywhere between £2million to £3million'.

Waggott told the Coventry Telegraph...

"At the moment our view is that Callum isn`t for sale."

"We`ve had no formal approach at all from Forest, certainly not through me anyway, and I don`t think the manager has because he hasn`t updated me with anything.

"We have had approaches from other Championship clubs who are keen to secure the services of one of the best young strikers around in League One at the moment. But as it stands we have rebuffed and rejected all offers that have come in."
