Cook: We can push on next season

AFC Bournemouth defender Steve Cook believes the Cherries can push on and challenge for the Championship play-offs next season.

During the Cherries first season in England's second tier for over 20 years, Eddie Howe's side went on to set a number of club records during the campaign including setting a new highest finish of tenth place.

AFC Bournemouth even flirted with the idea of breaking into the top six and challenging for an end of season play-off place during March, only to win just once from the final five games of the season.

But Cook believes the squad can push on further next season and challenge the top six.

Cook told afcb.co.uk...

"...Anyone that says it wasn`t a success was maybe very optimistic. We dropped down to 19th and finished 10th so that shows how far we have come over the season, I think it was a very good season for our first season in the Championship together.

"At the start of the season we looked at the final games thinking we might need a lot of points to keep us in the league and it wasn`t necessary.

"It`s hard to call at the start of the season when not a lot of players have played in this league but we certainly showed a lot of teams how good we are, so hopefully now we can push on next year and break into the play-offs."
