Büchel: New deal a formality
AFC Bournemouth goalkeeper Benjamin Büchel is set to agree a new one year contract at Dean Court.
The Cherries development squad goalkeeper recently earned his sixth international cap with Liechtenstein and is aiming for an injury free campaign.
The 24 year old joined up with the Cherries during pre-season 2012 and impressed during a trial spell with the club, initially signing a six month short-term contract in August 2012.
Under different managers he has continued to impress and has remained at Dean Court over the past two years.
In March 2013 whilst on loan with Dorchester Town, Büchel was sidelined with a knee injury and underwent an operation to fix his ACL (anterior cruciate ligament).
He returned after nine months sidelined with a loan move to Poole Town and ended the season with Havant & Waterlooville.
Büchel told the Daily Echo...
"It looks like everything will be OK for me to stay another year in Bournemouth, so I just need to sign the contract when I`m back in England, but it`s a formality...'
'...all I want is to stay fit for the whole season, push the other goalkeepers, and if possible, play-first team football.
"But I`m not really thinking about the chances of that. I train hard and I live well and if I get a chance, hopefully I will take it.
"You never know what is going to happen. Maybe I will get a loan move somewhere, but first I want to be in Bournemouth and to push as hard as possible...'
