*update* Middlesbrough Grabban bid denied

A reported transfer bid by Middlesbrough for AFC Bournemouth striker Lewis Grabban has been denied by the Cherries.

Last month Premier League side Crystal Palace were linked with a move for Cherries leading goalscorer, with Championship rivals Middlesbrough, Brighton and newly relegated Cardiff City monitoring the situation.

Sky Sports reported this (Wednesday) morning that Middlesbrough were the first side to make an approach with Middlesbrough 'hoping to be able to seal a quick deal'.

However the Cherries have quickly denied that a bid has been received with AFC Bournemouth chief executive Neill Blake telling the Daily Echo...

"No bid has been received for Lewis Grabban from Middlesbrough or any other club."

The 26 year old finished the season as the Championships fourth highest goalscorer on 22 goals with Watford's Troy Deeney finishing on 24, one behind Blackburn Rovers striker Jordan Rhodes and four behind Leeds United captain Ross McCormack.

It is believed that when Grabban signed his new contract with the Cherries in January a new 3million minimum transfer release clause was written into his contract.

YEP, . We are two points better than them, which is nowt. . . . Lets face it there is not much difference between all the clubs chasing Grabbs signature. . . It all comes down to what he is offered in his own personal package. . . Everyone has their price. . . remember. . . . . . CASH IS KING
