Grabban: Aiming to get in the club`s record books

AFC Bournemouth striker Lewis Grabban has targeted setting a new goal scoring record for the club as the Cherries push on for the Championship play-offs.

Grabban scored another two goals against Birmingham City on Saturday, the first a tap at the back post, with the second coming from the penalty spot as Grabban was fouled by the home sides 'keeper.

Grabban has now scored 19 goals this season, which brings him level with AFC Bournemouth legend Luther Blissett, who scored 19 goals in the second tier in 1988/89. Another goal would mean he breaks the 20 goals in a season barrier and become the sides leading scorer in the second tier of English football.

The Cherries 4-2 victory over Birmingham, also closed the gap to the Championship top six, with five points now separating Eddie Howe's side and the play-offs.

Grabban told the Daily Echo...

'It would be a good achievement to get my name in the club`s record books and it is something I will be aiming to do in the final seven games of the season.

"I have met Luther Blissett a few times and have seen photos of him around the ground. Trying to score 20 goals a season is something every striker wants to do and it would be great if I could reach that target as soon as possible..."

'...We are closing in on the play-offs and that shows how far we have come in the past few months. The only thing we can do is take it game by game and that is what has been giving us success. We aren`t getting ahead of ourselves or looking too far ahead. We are in a good position so let`s see what happens from here on in...'
