O'Kane: The league has to be our priority

AFC Bournemouth midfielder Eunan O'Kane insists that the players focus has not shifted from the Championship campaign.

Whilst the Cherries supporters have been distracted by FA Cup fever, with the donation scheme that has raised £3,000 for Burton fans to travel down to Dean Court for the re-arranged third round tie and a possible fourth round match against Liverpool. The players remain focussed on Wigan Athletic on Saturday.

This time twelve months ago, Eunan O'Kane scored the goal that almost won the FA Cup third round tie for the Cherries against Wigan. A result which would have been a major cup upset at the time with the Cherries in the third tier and Wigan in the Premier League.

But whilst Wigan went on to lift the FA Cup and qualify for the UEFA Europa League, they were also relegated to the Championship, leaving the sides as equals in the league this season.

O'Kane told afcb.co.uk...

"There`s quite a glamorous cup tie waiting for us if we can get past Burton, but it`s not really in anyone`s thoughts at the moment, We came back for training and Burton and Liverpool were mentioned for about five minutes amongst the players....'

'...The league has to be our priority and our ultimate goal is to stay in the Championship and be in this league next season.

"Anything after that is a bonus and if we can beat Burton and play Liverpool here, then that`s all well and good...'
