Howe: Delighted Camp chose us

AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe was delighted to have completed the permanent signing of West Bromwich Albion goalkeeper Lee Camp.

Camp initially made the move to Dean Court on a 28 day loan in October and went on to impress during his spell on the south coast, which saw his loan spell extended to coincide with the expiry of his contract with West Brom.

Camp made eleven games for the Cherries during his loan spell, with his best performance coming away to Brighton on New Year' Day, which had been set to be his final game for the club.

AFC Bournemouth and Camp continued talks following the end of his loan deal and have now announced he has signed a two and a half year contract.

Howe told afcb.co.uk...

"I`m really pleased that he`s decided to commit his future to us because he did really well during his loan spell, I know other clubs were aware of how well he was doing and that they had been to watch him. A good goalkeeper on a free, with the age Lee is at, is going to court attention.

"I`m delighted he chose us because there were other options for him and hopefully that`s a sign that he sees that we are heading in the right direction as a football club.

"Everyone is slightly different, but goalkeepers generally get better in their early thirties and hit their peak around that time.

"Hopefully we will see the best of Lee Camp if he stays here and stays injury free. And as with all the players here, we will look to improve him in areas that we think we can."
