'If It's Football, It's Vital'

O'Kane: I like to dictate and control the game

AFC Bournemouth midfielder Eunan O'Kane is keen to replicate his Reading performance if selected to play the deep sitting midfielder role again.

In recent weeks against Queens Park Rangers and Reading the Cherries have switched to more of a 4-5-1 formation away from Dean Court, with Harry Arter and Andrew Surman in central midfield supporting the wide players.

Against QPR the deeper role was played by Shaun MacDonald, whilst against Reading, Eunan O'Kane was handed the role.

The tactic of holding Reading and absorbing the pressure before hitting the former Premier League side on the counter attack worked wonderfully, with the Cherries taking all three points with goals from Lewis Grabban and Matt Ritchie.

O'Kane believes it is a roll that he could make his own if that system was used again in the future.

O'Kane told the Daily Echo...

"It`s a role not many people have seen me play for Bournemouth and it`s definitely a different side to my game...'

'...Managers usually see me as a more attacking and adventurous player but I feel quite comfortable being back there and, hopefully, if the manager needs someone to play there then my name will be in the hat for it.

"I hadn`t played there for quite a while but it suits the kind of player I am. I like to get on the ball, dictate things and control the speed of the game...'
