O'Kane: My International chance will come

AFC Bournemouth midfielder Eunan O'Kane is hopeful that he will eventually earn a call up to the Republic Of Ireland international side.

The Cherries midfielder, who has previously represented his country at Under 21's level has been put on standby by the full team squad for the upcoming friendlies against Latvia in Dublin on Friday and against Poland in Poznan on Tuesday.

The Republic Of Ireland named a 27 man squad for the two fixtures, so unless there are a number of late withdrawals, it would seem unlikely that O'Kane will receive the call up on this occasion.

This squad had been selected by Republic Of Ireland Under 21's manager Noel King, while the new management team of former Celtic manager Martin O'Neill and his assistant Roy Keane will take charge of the games and O'Kane is excited about the prospect of working with O'Neill and Keane.

O'Kane told the Daily Echo...

"It was good to be put on stand-by and was better than not being involved at all. I hope to get capped sometime in the future and it is nice to know I am in their thoughts.

"If I can keep putting in performances and playing well at this level, hopefully, my chance will come...

'...It would be the same with Martin O`Neill and Roy Keane. If I could get myself into those circles and around those people, it would only help me as a player which, in turn, would help Bournemouth."
