Thomas: Focused on helping Bournemouth

AFC Bournemouth striker Wes Thomas insists that he is fully focussed on working hard and giving his all for the Cherries.

Thomas ended last season on loan with Championship side Birmingham, having made eleven appearances and scoring three goals in the Championship.

It was his third loan move of the season having also played for Portsmouth, Blackpool and the Cherries over the course of the campaign.

The striker, who is contracted at Dean Court until the end of the 2013/14 season, appeared to express his desire to stay with Birmingham after joining them on loan in January, but a permanent move never materialised.

He returned to the south coast over the summer and began pre-season training with the development squad before returning to first team action firstly against Christchurch and then against West Ham United.

Thomas scored nine goals in total last season with three goals for Pompey, three goals for Blackpool and three goals for Birmingham.

However the last time he scored in a Cherries shirt was almost 16 months ago against Stevenage in former manager Paul Groves first game in charge, leaving him with a goal return of 1 in his past 26 appearances.

But with 12 months remaining on his contract, Thomas is keen to prove he is still focussed on AFC Bournemouth's Championship campaign.

Thomas told the Daily Echo...

'...It was difficult for me last season. I wasn`t in the previous manager's (Paul Groves) plans and, for me, it was all about playing. I went on loan and did well because it gave me an opportunity to play. That is all I am asking for here and I have spoken with the manager (Eddie Howe) about it.

"I have told him I am fully committed to the club and just want to prove to him that I want to play for his team. It is a great team and I am willing to work hard for him.

"I enjoyed my time at the clubs I played for last season but I am fully focused on helping Bournemouth. I want to prove to everyone that I am committed to the club and will give my all."

NO! He just wants to play for us because we're now in the Championship! Last season he showed a complete lack of belief in the club & didn't make it in Groves plans because of how shocking his finishing was. Yes, he scored some goals in the league last season but I even heard Birmingham supporters complaining about his finishing. Get shot of this guy.

And can we try and spell the word 'focused' correctly please.
